At Falcon Ridge Ranch, we strongly believe in the worth and value of each individual. We know that with the proper combination of structure, support, guidance and opportunity, troubled youth can overcome their problems and recognize their own individual worth. Then, they are able to make good choices in their lives and be accountable for their actions.
We work hard to create a safe, supportive environment where it is possible for youth to recognize the self-defeating, anti-social behaviors that complicate their lives. We teach them new skills that help them replace these negative behaviors and build character which will then lead to happy, productive lives.
The heart of Falcon Ridge is our premier Equine Assisted Psychotherapy which sets us above all others. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is an experiential learning component of the Falcon Ridge Ranch Program. Sessions are a collaborative effort between a licensed therapist, equine specialist, horse, and student. Metaphors and analogies help students identify their positive and negative behaviors. We build on healthy values and explore how to change harmful attitudes through horses. Practice in building a trusting relationship with a horse strengthens relationships with others.
