THERAPEUTIC BOARDING SCHOOLS FOR TROUBLED GIRLS
Therapeutic boarding schools for troubled girls are often confused with residential treatment centers. We recommend that parents enlist the help of an admissions counselor to ensure that they get the proper classification, but more importantly, they can get a better idea on which program is best suited for their child.
Falcon Ridge Ranch is a gender based residential treatment center that serves only troubled girls between the ages of 12-17. We differ greatly from therapeutic boarding schools, because our methods of therapy which we employ, encompass the daily life of all our girls.
Residential treatment centers for troubled girls provide long-term accommodation (lasting anywhere from 6-18 months or longer) to teens and adolescents with complex behavioral health problems, which an outpatient center is incapable of handling. The participants of a residential treatment center typically receive therapy in every aspect of their lives, which typically consists of residential, clinical and academic. A well-balanced therapy, as well as therapuetic activities, are offered in a safe and structured setting.
Therapeutic boarding schools center primarily on academics and extra-curricular activities, and therapy is secondary. Teens are offered therapy, usually facilitated from a third party source, that can be of additional cost to parents. Therapy is a minuscule component of the overall care, as the focus is on academic achievement. It can be completely appropriate if the care and needs of a child is to help with poor academics. Generally though, struggling teens have deep underlying issues that are far beyond academics.
Parents of troubled girls will find help at Falcon Ridge Ranch
Falcon Ridge Ranch is one of the best all-girls residential treatment programs in the country. The use of equine therapy is unlike any other program. Equine therapy is the heart of Falcon Ridge Ranch. The equine program is fully integrated into all aspects of the program at the ranch. We have an equine language arts program that is an integral part of the academic program. All of the staff at the ranch are exposed to the equine program through regular training.
The equine program at the ranch is composed of four elements; (1) equine therapy, (2) horsemanship, (3) leadership, and (4) responsibility, through assisting in the care of the horses and the equine area. Each student at the ranch is involved in all aspects of the equine program. It is not an optional curricular activity, as our therapy is rooted in equine therapy.
Falcon Ridge Ranch is located in southern Utah, in the town of Virgin ,about 10 miles from scenic Zion National Park. We understand that teens now ,more than ever, are receiving their cues and inputs from various negative directions, and are compromising their core values. We provide troubled girls with skills that allow them to tap into their core values when they find themselves in abnormal situations.
Troubled girls with difficulties is not something that can be dealt with overnight. It took a long time for these issues to accumulate, therefore it can be a lengthy process to undo the negative habits and behaviors. At Falcon Ridge Ranch, we are aware that our best tool is patience. It takes time for troubled girls to unlearn their acquired negative behaviors.
We support families during these hard times, and we encourage them to contact us for more information about our program. Call us at 1-866-452-8775.
