Therapy includes individual counseling, groups, equine and
recreational therapy, substance abuse treatment, and family counseling.
Group Therapy consists of a minimum of eight small one hour group sessions
weekly. The group setting provides a safe environment for the girls
to express their thoughts and feelings and to confront their issues
while
receiving support. Individual therapy provides one-on-one interaction
with a skilled therapists, helping them to establish positive relationships
and gain insight to their own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Family
sessions include phone therapy that assist parents and family members
to work through concerns and provide positive support to thier child.
Girls with substance abuse or addiction issues receive intensive substance
abuse treatment through individual, group, family, equine, and recreational
programs.
Family therapy is usually provided by phone, but also when
the families choose to visit on family weekends. Reunification is
the ulitimate goal when possible, and therapists work closely with
the families,
seeking to build a strong, positive relationship between the girl,
her family, and her professional staff.
Our equine assisted therapy is another component of our treatment
program that acts as a mirror and metaphor for many of the girls. Girls
bond quickly with horses. They learn trust, respect, affection, empathy,
unconditional acceptance, assertiveness and communication skills. Above
all, they develop self-control, self discipline, boundary setting and
team work skills. All core staff are certified by EAGALA (Equine Assisted
Growth and Learning Association).
