Our Horses

Overview: The Falcon Ridge Ranch equine program maintains approximately 35-40 head of horses. The herd contains: stallions, breeding mares, foals, arena performance horses, western riding horses, and equine therapy horses. Our equine program is designed to meet the therapeutic needs of each individual girl. When a girl arrives at the ranch, she is assigned a special project horse that she will work with throughout her stay at Falcon Ridge Ranch. Special project horses are selected by the girl and the equine team to assist the girl in her recovery. All of the members of the equine team here at Falcon Ridge Ranch have been trained to utilize the E.A.G.A.L.A. model. In addition, the equine program at Falcon Ridge Ranch uses N.E.T. (Natural Equine Therapy). The N.E.T. approach builds on the natural behaviors of the horse to assist each girl to develop confidence, build positive relationships based on respect and trust while learning to appreciate her own strengths and abilities. Both the horse and the girl grow through their interaction with each other. The girl learns to appreciate the horse and the horse learns to appreciate and value the relationship with the girl.
