Equine Assisted Psychotherapy Programs for girls

At the heart of Falcon Ridge Ranch is our premier Equine Assisted Psychotherapy Programs specifically designed for struggling girls.  Our Equine therapy program sets us above all other treatment programs and residential treatment centers.

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is an experiential learning component of the Falcon Ridge Ranch therapeutic programs.  Therapeutic sessions are a collaborative effort between a licensed therapist, equine specialist, horse, and student.  Metaphors and analogies help students identify their positive and negative behaviors.

At Falcon Ridge Ranch our girls build healthy values and learn unique ways to change harmful attitudes through therapeutic interactions with the horses.  Our girls practice techniques of building healthy relationships by establishing a safe and trusting relationship with a horse.  This concept strengthens the struggling girl and enchances her ability to develop meaningful relationships with people.

The equine program supports the educational curriculum at Falcon Ridge Ranch.  We offer alternating classes, in both Equine Language Arts and Equine Science, which provide additional therapeutic interaction and learning with horses.  Horsemanship and Leadership is taught to enhance physical skills and motivate positive change.

Equine therapy provides an excellent way for students to experience learning in the open air.  Equine therapy programs allow students the opportunity to gain skills of patience, self-confidence, trust, and compassion.  Learning to trust a 1000 pound horse, and gaining that horse's trust, provides an excellent way to overcome personal barriers, learn responsibility, and accept accountability.  These therapeutic programs have the ability to work where many other therapeutic approaches fail.

Parents may also get involved in the equine therapy process.  They will learn the proper way to care for, handle, and lead a horse, and questions such as "Should I force the horse or let it go free?" will be addressed, as comparisons between the horse and their child are discussed.  This will provide an unforgettable experience for both parent and child.

Our equine therapeutic treatment program is at the center of our care. Whether your daughter has little experience with horses, or none, EAP offers an exiting, fun, and therapeutic approach at changing and improving lives.  Horses communicate through body language, and learning to watch for, and listen to, this body language will help our students watch and listen for similar language among their peers, parents, and families.
